The Outreach Program
Join Us to Make a Difference!
We’re coming together at the BRE Auditorium on Saturday, December 6th, from 9:00–10:30 AM to help pack 30,000 meals for those in need — and we’d love for you to be part of it!
You can support this event in one of two ways:
-
Donate any amount to help fund the effort
-
Participate in the event for $50 per person (includes materials; space limited to 100 participants)
Participants are welcome from Kindergarten and up, and family members are encouraged to attend and cheer on our volunteers.
Thank you for helping us reach our goal and make a meaningful impact in our community!

About The Outreach Program
Founded in 2004 by Floyd and Kathy Hammer after witnessing severe malnutrition in Tanzania, The Outreach Program began as a way to engage volunteers in meal packaging events that provide nutritious, shelf-stable meals to families in need. Combining Floyd’s background in manufacturing and farming, the organization created its first Rice & Bean meal to supply protein-rich, six-serving packs ideal for school feeding programs.
Today, The Outreach Program has helped package and distribute over 900 million meals, with 95% staying in local communities. Partnering with Iowa State’s Food Science Department, it now offers 10 vegetarian, high-protein meals(6–11g of plant-based protein and 21 essential vitamins/minerals per serving), all easy to prepare with just water and heat. Meals like Mac & Cheese, Spanish Rice, and Cheesy Rice are favorites, and gluten-free options ensure accessibility for families with dietary needs.
The California chapter offers this on-site Service Learning Program for K–12 students, combining hands-on meal packing with education about hunger and food insecurity.
With over 18 million Americans food insecure and food banks facing budget cuts, Outreach meals help bridge the gap by offering nutritionally superior, cost-effective food options. Corporate and community volunteer events provide an impactful way to support local food banks and families.
